LOKLOK @ JB

A's aunt invited me to have dinner with the family on xmas eve (another blogpost) and as usual, people from the same generation started forming their groups and chatted away. Was telling the siblings and cousins about our recent trip to JB when I told the rest that I heard alot of raves about loklok in JB. Then we kind of got so enthu that we decided to make a trip in that weekend.

Thank god for Ben's car. They picked me up at my place and headed straight to the checkpoint.

got really excited as it was my first time crossing the causeway via a car. The checkpoint lane for cars was uber fun! The best thing was that we do not have to alight and then queue for our turn to get our passport stamps. (just have to show face LOL)

It was a breeze at both checkpoints and we managed to get through within half an hour (or maybe 45 mins).

Went over to KSL City Mall to catch CZ12 before LOKLOK at night

why are you so cuteeeee <3

First thing to eat in JB: SHILIN FRIED CHICKEN!!!!!
I swear it's wayyyyyyyyyyy better than those here in SG. I have no idea why but I guess it's because of the chicken? Maybe they use kampong live chicken while the chickens used here are frozen ones. and they follow the way you eat just like in TW - just one big uncut piece with bones. AUTHENTIC.

Movie tickets at only RM12 (~ SGD$4.8). dirt cheap. I'm thinking of going back in to watch Les Misérables. (A, can? LOL)

Of course, Jackie Chan never fails to awe us with his humour and cool stunts. Ultimate respect but heart-wrenching at the same time to see him do everything himself (when he's already 59).

Shopped around for good deals and it's crazy sale everywhere! 2 pieces of dresses for RM50 (~SGD20)!!! I have already psycho-ed mumsy and A to come back to shop for CNY's clothes. (ANYONE INTERESTED?)

<3 Le boy!

Night Falls and we drove out of KSL to the famous food street! It's uber near to KSL, i think it was a 5 to 7 mins drive? A's sis told us that they always walk over from KSL previously. so I guess it's walkable? LOL. Shall try to walk over with 10 people guarding me left right infront behind. LOL.

found seats almost immediately as there are "waiters" anxiously pulling customers to their own designated stalls. You have Abalone Noodles, Wonton Mee, and the famous Lok Lok Van! Ordered the Abalone Noodles and went over to the van to get our sticks of food!

There's like 50/60 types of snacks you can choose from. You basically can find everything you eat during your usual steamboat meals - fish cake, sausages, vegs, luncheon meat, quail eggs, century egg, different types of mushrooms, cuttlefish, bacon with asparagus AND ALOT MOREEEEEEEE. So, you choose whatever you want, then pass it to cook, they will deep fry (ouch, so sinful) and then serve it to you piping hot. The price of each stick ranges from RM1 to RM2.50/3. So it's like 40 cents to $1.20 if you convert it back to SGD. AGAIN: DIRT CHEAP LAH.

They have 6 different types of sauces you can dip your food in. I have no idea which is which, but there should be chilli in different levels of spiciness, satay sauce, 沙茶酱 (sweet salty and a little bitter) etc.

And this one above is the king of all chilli sauce. EPIC HOT and it burns your entire mouth. best of all, it doesnt go away.

A's sis recommended us to get this drink called Jelly. It's basically the jelly you always eat in Ice Cocktail Jelly with either lime juice or sugar water. It's a must to order because it is sooo refreshing and covers away all of the oily feeling you have while stuffing all the deep fried food.

The "very famous", "highly raved" abalone noodle. yeah, nothing special about it, it's like your normal fishball noodle with a piece of abalone. like what alot of people said, i guess the standard has dropped tremendously.

but nothing beats LOKLOK. as sinful as it may be, it's the one thing I would recommend everyone to go try out. especially the fried mushroom and quail eggs. but you have to run at least 10 rounds after that.

We paid about RM 10 + each which is SGD4 for everything (abalone noodle, loklok and the drinks)
how can food be sooooooooooo nice and cheap?!!
I'm definitely heading back with more people. (but i better run more before heading there again)

XOXO

JB TRIP 2012 DAY 1

Hello!
Just got back from my 3D2N Staycation/BirthdayParty at The Fullerton Hotel!
Tons of photos to be filtered and processed. so stay tuned!

--

We always had that BIG idea of heading out of SG with everyone in the group but it was put-off again and again because of our clashing schedules for school/work/NS. It was quite an impromptu decision when Anvy suggested Legoland and we managed to get 6 of us (A, Justin, GX, ZC & Anvy) that were free. Kudos to Anvy & GX for booking the hotel rooms and tickets to Legoland. Went researching on the food/things we could do after crossing the causeway once I was done with exams.

DAY1: Checking in Hotel + Johor Premium Outlet + Danga Bay Seafood

Met the rest at Woodlands Interchange at 8am and took about an hour and fifteen to finally cross the causeway. The road to JB was slightly jammed but still, I would say, quite a smooth one.

Cleared Immigration and walked over to our hotel to check if we could get our rooms but it was still too early. Deposited our bags at the lobby and went for brunch. Googled about some dimsum place nearby and we decided to head over and try. But we were too late (reached about 10ish am) and most of the dimsum dishes were sold out. Grabbed the remaining ones and a bowl of fishball noodles each.

Emptied within minutes.

It was still early for check in so we went exploring the area and look out for any good food to try. Shopped a while and we headed to J.CO at City Square Mall for our usual chit chatting/camwhore sessions.

OLD SCHOOL PUBLIC TELEPHONE BOOTH

Streets of JB Sentral

and finally. it was 2pm.

GX booked us 3 rooms at Citrus Hotel and we got the bright orangey room. The rest of them got blue ones. Not bad for a 3 star Hotel, small room but it has almost all the basic necessities you need - Toiletries, TV, Bedside Lamp, blahblah. The only bad point is that they dont provide kettles. We had to  buy mineral water instead.

Settled down and we continued our chit chatting sessions while we waited for the bus to Johor Premium Outlet.

Went over to the Immigration Checkpoint and boarded JPO1 to Johor Premium Outlet. It's at the basement of the checkpoint, check with the securities, they can direct you:).

The bus ride took us 45 mins to an hour at a one way trip rate of RM4.50 ( ~ SGD$1.8).

HERE WE AREEEEE~~~~~~~

Was really hungry by the time we reached, so we started queuing up for crepe the moment we saw food.

I ordered Tuna & Cheese, while A got his fav, cookies&cream

why so cute.

After crepe-ing, we spilt up and went SHOPPINGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

<3

you have to come JPO for their COACH Outlet. DAMN CHEAP. THEIR DISCOUNTED PRICES LIKE MAD. The wrinslet i bought for mumsy previously is selling at another 40percent lesser.

GROUP PHOTO~~~

After shopping, Anvy & ZC suggested seafood at Danga Bay so we frantically searched for transport. Luckily, JPO1 back to JB Sentral passes by Danga Bay!

Bus Schedule back to Checkpoint

The guys started camwhoring while we waited for the bus

After a half & hour bus ride, we reached Danga Bay! Apparently Danga Bay is a waterfront recreation centre with shopping attractions and F&B. There are alot of seafood restaurants you can choose from, we just went ahead with the first one we saw - The Seafood Market.

Fresh Live Seafood!

Amazing ambience

Quiet & Soothing Night View

The Lovebirds <3

ordered veges, clams, claypot braised tofu, fish, oysters.
AWESOME DINNER

GX's pleased.

yay! i was blocked.

Thank you Danga Bay for the fresh seafood! Was already discussing with the rest to bring JJ Daryl SQ ++  back again for dinner! (prob before CNY)?? Cabbed back to the hotel as it was quite late. Freshened up and went over to Justin's room to chill!

Beer & Peanuts!

FINALLY DONE WITH DAY1
I promised DAY2&3 will be up soon!

IM HEADING BACK TO JB this sat with A & his silbings/cousies!
